Church Government
PLCF is governed by elders who are selected for their spiritual maturity. We believe that the church will recognize those who have this calling upon them and that these will function in this role long before they are formally called as elders. The call of an elder is to serve the people entrusted to them. No one is qualified to lead until he has developed the heart of a servant.
All important decisions are made with the complete unity of the seven men currently serving in this role. Our elders (which include our three pastors) do not out-vote each other; if even one strongly feels we should move in a direction other than the majority, we stop and submit all to prayer again until such time as clarity comes. This practice has guided us well and allowed us to maintain a high degree of trust and unity. We believe the health of our church is dependent upon the spiritual health of our leadership.
A position paper that goes into this issue in greater detail is available upon request from the church office.
